About Creative Youth Theater
The cast of A SITE FOR SORE EARS in 2010.
Creative Youth Theater started in 1998 when some parents asked our director to find or write a play that allows each participant to have lines and lots of time on stage. She took on that challenge agreeing that a play should not have a few stars but all of the kids should be important to the story.
We began offering a younger kid’s play about 10 years ago to offer an opportunity for these younger kids to develop their skills before they were old enough to move up to the older kid’s play.
Our mission statement is to offer plays where all the kids involved have lots of time on stage, a character they can develop, and lots of fun. Our founder and director, Christie Miller writes most of the plays so that this goal is accomplished. What’s great about this is that the audience never knows what’s going to happen, as the story is all new to them.
As a not-for-profit organization, we try to keep costs low, and are also about to hold our practices and performances at a church facility. We are grateful to our current hosts HOPE IN CHRIST CHURCH at 1-5 and Sunset and James streets for allowing us to use their wonderful facility.
The older kids put on three performances and the younger kids two performances. Our priority is to provide a safe place for our actors to learn and grow while putting on a great performance for our audiences.
